Roborock Q Series or Saros: Which One Should You Buy?

Summary

If you mainly want a reliable map and room-by-room cleaning, a LiDAR-based Q series robot covers it. The Saros line starts to earn its higher price when several needs stack up: clutter on the floor, low furniture to clean under, and a dock that washes and dries the mop for you.

Q5 Pro: mapping and suction

The Q5 Pro builds detailed maps with PreciSense LiDAR and supports maps for up to four floors. It has 5,500 Pa of suction and a 770 ml dustbin. The Q5 Pro+ adds the RockDock Plus, whose 2.5 L bag holds up to seven weeks of debris.

At 96.5 mm (about 3.8 in) tall, including its LiDAR turret, it may not fit under a low sofa or bed. Measure before you buy.

Saros 10R: obstacle avoidance, low profile, full-service dock

The Saros 10R replaces the spinning turret with a 3D ToF system (Roborock calls it solid-state LiDAR), paired with an RGB camera and side obstacle sensing. Roborock says it recognizes 108 types of objects. At 79.8 mm (about 3.1 in), Roborock bills it as its slimmest robot yet (as of January 2025, per its own footnote).

Its dock holds up to 70 days of debris, washes the mop with 80°C water, and dries it at 55°C. The mop lifts up to 22 mm, and the robot can climb thresholds up to 4 cm (Roborock quotes that for double-layer thresholds). Figures checked against Roborock's product page on September 24, 2026.

The Saros 10, which uses a retractable LDS instead, comes down to the same 79.8 mm height with its LDS lowered. The slim body is not unique to one sensor design.

Making the call

For a small or tidy home where vacuuming is the main job, the Q series is enough. Homes with kids or pets, frequent floor clutter, low furniture, or a need for hands-off daily mopping get real value from a Saros. The price gap is wide, so buy for the features you will actually use.
