What Does Your Home Need Before You Set Up an ionvac SmartClean V4?

Summary

The ionvac SmartClean V4 is a budget robot vacuum that returns to its dock after cleaning and empties its bin automatically. The manual asks for 6 ft of open space in front of the dock and 3 ft on each side, and it wants loose cords picked up off the floor. The app works only on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and the robot isn't meant for long-pile carpet.

Where the dock goes

Set the dock against a wall on a level surface with at least 6 ft clear in front and 3 ft on either side. Keep it out of direct sunlight, which the manual says can stop the robot from finding its way back. Each time the robot docks, it empties its 450 ml bin into a bag in the dock, and a blinking red light tells you the bag is full. Tzumi sells replacement bags rated for up to 30 days of debris.

Clear the floor first

The manual says not to run the robot with exposed wires on the floor. It can drag power cords, blind cords, and even the dock's own cable, unplugging devices or knocking things over. Cliff sensors keep it from going down stairs, but Tzumi recommends a physical barrier at balconies.

Floors it handles, and ones it doesn't

Rubber wheels let it move from hardwood onto rugs and carpet, but the manual says not to use it on long-haired carpet. Dark carpet can confuse its sensors; the fix is to switch to carpet or random mode.

App and Wi-Fi

The Tzumi Smart Home app connects on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; the robot won't pair on 5 GHz. You can run it without the app using the buttons or remote, but features like scheduling need the app.

Price and availability

Tzumi's store lists it at $299.00 and shows it as out of stock as of September 23, 2026. Run time is up to 120 minutes, and the robot stands 3.1 in (79 mm) tall.
