Is the Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD Right for Your Yard?
Summary
It fits large, hilly, or multi-zone lawns where you want one wire-free mower to cover everything. The LUBA 2 AWD drives all four wheels, is rated for slopes up to 80% (38°), and combines cameras with RTK to track its position. It comes in four sizes from 1,000 to 10,000 m², so pick one with room to spare over your actual lawn.
The four models
The LUBA 2 AWD 1000, 3000, 5000, and 10000 are rated for 1,000, 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 m² (roughly 0.25 to 2.5 acres) and support 10, 20, 30, and 60 zones respectively. The 1000 runs about 120 minutes per charge; the others about 180 minutes. Charging takes about 150 minutes.
Each size comes in a Standard and an H version. Standard cuts at 25–70 mm (about 1–2.75 in), and H at 55–100 mm (about 2.2–4 in) for owners who keep grass taller. Cutting width is 400 mm.
Slopes and bumps
With four-wheel drive, Mammotion rates it for climbs up to 80% (38°). Near the lawn boundary, though, the limit is 45% (24°), which matters if a steep grade runs right to the edge. It can climb over vertical obstacles up to 50 mm on the Standard version and 80 mm on the H.
Positioning and obstacle detection
It combines vision and RTK to follow virtual boundaries drawn in the app, with no perimeter wire. For obstacles it uses binocular vision, ultrasonic radar, and a bumper. The RTK reference station needs a spot with a good view of the sky, so plan where it will go before you buy.
When to look elsewhere
On a small, flat lawn, you'd be paying for traction and capacity you won't use. If tall trees leave little open sky, compare mowers that don't depend on RTK.
