Will the ECOVACS GOAT O1000 RTK Handle Your Yard?
Summary
It fits lawns up to 8,600 sq ft with no passage narrower than about 2.3 ft. It skips boundary wire and relies on an included RTK reference station plus cameras and a 3D ToF sensor for positioning and obstacle detection. It sells for $999.99.
Size it by square feet, not "1/4 acre"
The product title and feature list say "1/4 acre," but a quarter acre is roughly 10,890 sq ft, which doesn't match the 8,600 sq ft figure on the same page. Treat 8,600 sq ft as the ceiling when you measure your lawn.
A charge gives about 65 minutes of mowing, and recharging takes about 100 minutes. ECOVACS rates coverage at roughly 1,507 sq ft per hour in its Delicate mode and 1,938 sq ft per hour in Efficient mode.
Where yard shape can trip it up
The mower climbs slopes up to 45% (24°) inside the work area, but the limit on a virtual boundary is 17%. If your boundary runs along a bank, check that grade. The narrowest passage it can get through is 2.3 ft, so measure any side-yard strips that connect lawn sections.
Cutting width is 8.66 inches, and cutting height adjusts manually from 1.2 to 3.2 inches. For edges, TruEdge lets it ride up onto passable borders and cut right to the edge.
Obstacles and app control
RTK handles positioning, while AIVI 3D pairs an AI camera with 3D ToF, a sensor that measures distance by timing reflected light. ECOVACS says the system avoids more than 200 obstacle types. In the app you can add, split, and merge areas, draw no-go zones, and set cutting height and speed per zone.
