Cordless Pool Robots: What Matters Besides Battery Life?
Summary
Two things get overlooked: how you get the robot out when it's done, and whether it recharges in time for the next cleaning. A robot that parks at the surface or against a wall is much easier to retrieve, and a shorter charge time lets you run it more often. When you compare runtimes, check which cleaning mode the number refers to.
Runtime depends on the mode
A robot runs longest in floor-only or eco modes and shorter when it also climbs walls and scrubs the waterline. Aiper's Scuba S1 page is a good example: the spec table lists up to 180 minutes of battery life, the floor-mode section says 150 minutes, and the Eco mode headline says 270 minutes. If you want floor, walls, and waterline done in one run, compare the figure for that mode, not the largest number on the page.
Getting it out of the pool
A cordless robot has no cable to guide it back to the edge, so where it stops at the end of a cycle matters a lot.
- WYBOT C1 parks itself next to the pool wall when it finishes, so you can lift it out from the edge.
- Beatbot AquaSense 2 rises to the surface and parks there when cleaning ends or the battery runs low.
- Aiper Scuba S1 comes with a retrieval hook. Its product page doesn't mention automatic wall or surface parking (checked September 24, 2026).
Charging and how often you clean
Charge times are 3 to 4 hours for the Aiper Scuba S1, 3 hours for the WYBOT C1, and about 4 hours on the wireless charging dock for the Beatbot AquaSense 2. If you plan to run the robot daily, every cycle means lifting it out, letting it drain, and setting it on the charger, so think about where the charger will live.
Runtime on the three models
- Aiper Scuba S1: up to 180 minutes per the spec table; 150 minutes in floor mode and 270 in Eco mode.
- WYBOT C1: up to 150 minutes, with five modes including floor, wall, and full.
- Beatbot AquaSense 2: up to 4 hours of continuous floor cleaning; it cleans floors, walls, and the waterline.
