Which Pools and Routines Is the Aiper Scuba S1 Built For?

Published · By the BotLineup editors · Prices and specs as of that date, from the pages under Sources

Summary

The Scuba S1 is for pools up to 1,600 sq ft and 50 ft long where you want the floor, walls, waterline, and shallow areas cleaned without a cable. Runtime varies a lot by mode, so how much you expect it to clean on each run shapes how well it fits your routine. For debris floating on the surface, Aiper's answer is a different product, the Surfer S1 skimmer.

Pool fit

The spec table lists in-ground as the ideal pool type, for pools up to 1,600 sq ft (150 m²) and 50 ft (15 m) long. The page copy elsewhere says it works in above-ground pools too. Since the two statements don't match, check with the seller before buying it for an above-ground pool.

Coverage and modes

Aiper lists four cleaning zones: floor, walls, waterline, and shallow areas about 12 inches deep. Modes include floor, wall, automatic, and a periodic Eco mode, all selectable in the app. The spec table gives up to 180 minutes of battery life, while the floor-mode section says 150 minutes and the Eco headline says 270 minutes. Eco runs 45 minutes every 48 hours, which is meant for upkeep rather than a deep clean each day.

Filtration and upkeep

Filtration is two-stage: a 180-micron basket and a 3-micron fine filter, with a 3.5-liter basket. Suction is rated at 4,200 GPH. When a cycle ends, you pull it out with the included retrieval hook, let the quick-release drain empty the water, and put it on the charger for 3 to 4 hours.

Surface debris: Surfer S1

Aiper also sells the Surfer S1, a solar- and battery-powered skimmer that roams the surface collecting floating debris. It doesn't clean the floor or walls, so in a pool that collects a lot of leaves, it covers a different job from the Scuba S1.
